Alan Thompsons practice emphasizes civil matters, including commercial litigation, business/corporate and intellectual property matters. His commercial litigation practice includes representation of individuals and businesses in general work and commercial matters, including employment, banking, real property and construction cases. His business/corporate practice includes real property purchase and leasing matters, entity formation and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Thompsons intellectual property counsel and litigation practice includes licensing, trademark (including federal trademark registration), copyright and unfair competition issues. A native of Boulder, Colorado, Mr. Thompson received his B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Colorado at Boulder. In law school, he was a member and production editor of the University of Colorado Law Review. Mr. Thompson conducted his first trials while still in law school, representing indigent clients in criminal matters through the Universitys Legal Aid and Defender program. While not practicing law, Mr. Thompson contributes to several community causes. He served as chairman of the board of directors of Youthbiz, Inc., an at-risk youth business development program located in the Denver Five Points neighborhood, and as legal counsel for the Colorado Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees). He also served on the board of directors and as president of the Boulder Jaycees. He instructed students at a martial arts school, and holds a Black Belt in Shao Lin Kung Fu. Mr. Thompson is licensed to practice in Colorado and is admitted before the Colorado Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, and the United States Bankruptcy Court. He is a member of the American, Colorado and First Judicial District Bar Associations, and has appeared in courts throughout Colorado, Wyoming, California and New Mexico. |
